Archive for January, 2012

Hello folks I hope you are well. So another thing that makes me happy is birthdays. I like that it’s the one day where people get in contact, friends that you often don’t get a chance to call or you don’t see often send you a message on facebook or a text or something to show they are thinking of you on that day. Colourful cards come through the post and you have a sneaking feeling that they will be a birthday card for you, it’s lovely.

Last night just before my birthday I began to think of my parents, yes birthdays are about you but what about celebrating those people who brought you into the world and supported you all these years? At the age of 31 I really do have a lot to thank my parents for. They have always been there to help me and advise me, happy to help me any way they can. They believe in me even when I don’t believe in myself and I don’t think I’ll ever to repay them for all they have done and still do. They are amazing people.

So this birthday I am celebrating parents or the rentals (as me and my sister call them).   Thanks and I love you very much.

Ciao for now

New things

So its a new year time for some new things and the resurrection of some old. I did plan to write a blog last October but a few months down the line not a single post published.

Anyway new things! The purpose of the blog is to rant and rave about things that make me happy and perhaps introduce you guys to some new things you didn’t know about.

Rather than quoting some random resolutions which I will just never stick to, I’m working my way through two books that make me happy and will help me achieve some things throughout the year. I’m making time this year and not whinging that there isn’t enough of it!

A few years ago my dear friend Dee gave me a book called “Your Best Year Yet!” Just a quick note on Dee. I’ve know her for a million years we used to work at First Sport Oxford Street store together in our youth. She’s one of those inspirational people who introduce you to great things and always encourages you to be the best you can (I may even write a separate post just about her! Big shout Wifey).

Anyway back to the book. It’s great it helps you look over the last year and see the positives even if you feel you’ve had a shitty year it still helps you see the good side and evaluate the bad. So by the end of it (should take about 3 hours) you will have 10 goals to achieve for the new year. It helps you to focus on what you really want to do and I’ve done it three times and feel really good about it.

The other book that makes me smile is all about happiness. Actually its called “The Happiness Project” The author Gretchen spends a year going through a few different things she’d want to do better at and that will make her happier like getting more sleep (who doesn’t need more of that) being a better partner/wife to her husband, sing in the morning.

Anyways its an honest account of someone trying to make their life better. And I guess that’s what I want to do. As Gretchen said “It’s time to expect more of myself”.
